THE MAKING OF The Brownpaper Mouse Springtime Alphabet Storybook

During the April-May 2020 COVID lock-down in Bozeman Montana (U.S.), I wrote and illustrated a new Look & Find Alphabet Storybook! My spouse, David, helped me dream up alphabet words and I wrote a rhyming verse centered around all the things I love about Spring. In each alphabet picture I hid words that begin with that letter. I drew the illustrations in Prismacolor pencil on squares of brown paper (reused grocery bags).

To brighten days of others holed up in quarantine, I started an email list and sent each illustration to friends and family as I completed them. They had fun looking for alphabet words and often found even more than I’d known were there! Some pages have 40 or more hidden words to find! In May of 2020 I published The Brownpaper Mouse Springtime Alphabet Storybook, and it’s available via Amazon and my Etsy shop: Goodwerks. (It’s also at the public library and The Great Rocky Mountain Toy Co. in Bozeman, Montana, and at Green dorry Gallery in Livingston, MT.
